Goat Clearances are a family-run local business located in Westcliff, Essex. We have built a reputation throughout Essex, for handling difficult house clearances. We recently completed a significant project in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex having been called in by a family dealing with the emotional aftermath of a loved one’s passing. The deceased owner had been a devoted cat lover, and had become in later years a hoarder. While the cats had already found new homes, the bungalow remained in a complete state which the family didn’t know where to start so called Goat Clearances for some much needed help!
Before the Goat Clearances team entered, we ensured that everyone was fully equipped with the proper personal protective equipment (PPE). Goat Clearances, are always prepared for challenging environments, and our team took every necessary precaution to tackle this bungalow clearance safely and effectively.
Our main goals were to:
Handle belongings with care and sort through items to separate those that could be salvaged, reused, or donated.
Clear any bio-waste safely and sanitise the property.
Minimise waste and adhere to our sustainability standards, ensuring as many items as possible were recycled or rehomed.
The clearance spanned two days. Day one involved a thorough first sweep, where we carefully removed cat litter, and mess from each room. The entire house required a top-to-bottom cleaning, and our team members worked meticulously to clear and disinfect all surfaces.
Once the house was safe to handle without PPE, we moved on to assessing the owner’s possessions. Our team sorted items to determine which pieces of furniture and other belongings were in a suitable condition to be donated to local charities. Thanks to our community connections, we could ensure that many items found new homes instead of ending up in a landfill.
With our careful, systematic approach, we achieved a 95% sustainability rate for this clearance, meaning the vast majority of cleared materials were either donated or recycled. Only a minimal amount had to be disposed of, keeping our environmental impact as low as possible.
By the end of day two, the property was clear, clean, and ready for the market. For the family, this meant peace of mind in knowing that professionals had handled a challenging job with sensitivity, efficiency, and respect. They were saved the burden of a dirty task and could focus on honoring their loved one’s memory without the added stress.
At Goat Clearances, we know that dealing with a loved one’s belongings is never easy, and we are here to make that process as smooth and respectful as possible. This successful project in Canvey Island stands as a testament to our commitment, professionalism, and eco-friendly approach to house clearance.
